Edward Craig

Edward Craig is the Knightbridge Professor of Philosophy at the University of Cambridge and a fellow at Churchill College. His academic interests include the history of modern philosophy, with a focus on Hume and Kant, and the theory of knowledge. He is also interested in topics related to scientific methodology (epistemic privacy), language, and meaning. Since 1993, he has been a fellow of the British Academy in recognition of his contributions to these fields. He engages with both contemporary and historical issues in the theory of knowledge. Between 1988 and 1992, he served as the editor of the journal "Ratio" and was the general editor of "The Routledge Encyclopedia of Philosophy" (in 10 volumes and on CD-Rom), published in 1998, which is considered the leading reference work of its kind in the English language. He has also overseen the online edition of the encyclopedia, "REP Online." Professor Craig has taught philosophy in Germany (Hamburg, Heidelberg, Bayreuth), Australia (Melbourne), and India (Indian Institute of Advanced Study, Shimla).
