Venios Agelopoulos

Venios Agelopoulos
Venios Angelopoulos was born in Athens during the Occupation, on the day of the major demonstration against forced conscription. After finishing school, he went to France where he studied Mathematics and Physics and worked as a researcher. From 1987 until his retirement, he taught Mathematics at the National Technical University of Athens. He is married to sculptor Ersi Chatziargyrou and has a son, Adrianos. He came into the public spotlight due to a cordial conversation he had with the FBI because of his acquaintance with Alekos Giotopoulos. He took advantage of this to write articles in the press on various topics (in addition to his research articles in Mathematics), mainly about education, the teaching and properties of mathematics, unionism, politics, and other scattered subjects—many of which are posted on the blog "Venios' Antics." Over time, he has been a runner, player, clandestine reader, smoker, drinker, waiter, president, vice-president, secretary, extra, but he never became an astronaut. His book "We Want Education" was published by Nisos, Athens, in 2007.
