Andreas Staikos

Born in Athens in 1944, the author studied philology at the University of Thessaloniki and theater at the Conservatoire National d'Art Dramatique in Paris. He lived in Paris from 1967 to 1981. He primarily wrote plays, which were presented on both state and private stages in Athens, Thessaloniki, and other cities across Greece. He typically writes theater in collaboration with a group of actors during rehearsals. Due to this unique approach, he directs most of his plays himself, at least for their initial presentation. He has written two novels, one of which, "The Dangerous Cooking," has been translated into several European languages as well as Japanese. He has taught at the Department of Communication and Mass Media at Panteion University and the Department of Theater at the University of Thessaloniki. He has translated works by Pierre-Ambroise Choderlos de Laclos, Marivaux, Alfred de Musset, Eugene Labiche, Moliere, among others.
