Vasilis Ladas

Vasilis Ladas was born in 1946 in Patras, where he currently lives and works. He studied law in Thessaloniki. He has published several prose works, including: "The City and the Myth" (2002), "Rio-Antirrio" (short story, To Donti, 2004), "Bodiless Head" (novel, Patakis 2007), "Musafirat: The Thousand and One Nights of a Refugee Camp" (Futura 2008, 2nd ed. 2016), "Cricket Games" (novella, Gavriilidis 2012, State Book Award for Promoting Dialogue on Sensitive Social Issues), "African Dust" (novel, Gavriilidis 2015). He has also published poetry collections (sometimes under the pseudonym Vasilis Arfanis): "Yannis and Maria: A Love Story" (1972, 2nd ed. Gavriilidis 2014), "The Appointment" (Odysseas, 1984), "Evening at Home" (1990), "The Dead Child" (1990), "Double City" (1994), "Parable" (2001), "Apokreo" (Gavriilidis, 2004), "Dinners" (Gavriilidis, 2011), as well as a chronicle of the history of the Patras Film Club, 1978-2017: "At Abraham's Age" (Achaikes Editions, 2017). In 2005, the Agrinio Municipal and Regional Theatre staged a theatrical adaptation of his work "Rio-Antirrio" by director Thodoris Gkonis, in collaboration with the Patras Municipal and Regional Theatre. In 2006, as part of the "Patras: European Capital of Culture" events, the Ionian Theatre presented his work "Immoral Poetry," an anthology of poems and prose about prostitutes, brothels, and their clients.
