Kostas Kalapanidas

Kostas Kalapanidas was born in Palaiokarya, Trikala, in 1935. He is a retired school counselor and one of the authors of the books "My Language," as well as two series of language books for repatriates and Greek children in English-speaking countries. His history book was awarded by the Ministry of Education and was taught for eight years in elementary schools. However, his main literary work is poetry. Among his poetry collections, "Stavros, the Engineer of Kallirrois Street" received the second "Markos Avgeris" award. "Dear Teacher" won the first "Kifisia" award. He also received two first prizes from the Women's Literary Society for the children's poetry collections "Conversations with the Stars" and "With a Winged Pony." Seventy poems from his three children's collections were set to music by composers Nikiforos Rotas, Dions Aryvas, Spyros Theodorou, among others; eight were included in elementary school books, and his children's poetry is taught in university education departments. His book "Rodia: Three Surnames, One Village," published with the sponsorship of the Ministry of Culture, is considered significant. Kostas Kalapanidas is the father of two children and resides in Argyroupoli.
