THanasis N. Papathanasiou
Thanasis N. Papathanasiou was born in Athens in 1959. He holds a degree in Law and a Ph.D. in Theology. Since 1992, after a professional career in the legal field, he has been working in education. He is a theology teacher at the Zephyri High School in West Attica, teaches at the Hellenic Open University, and is the editor-in-chief of the theological magazine "Synaxi." For eight years (academic years 2000-2008), he taught on secondment at the Higher Ecclesiastical School & Higher Ecclesiastical Academy of Athens. He has published numerous studies in Greece and abroad on the dialogue between Christianity and the modern era, social intervention in times of globalization, and the dangers of intolerance and racism. Among his works are the books: - "The 'Laws of the Homerites': Missionary Approach and Historical-Legal Contribution" (doctoral dissertation, Sakkoulas, Athens 1994), - "Homelessness and Referentiality: Critical Approaches to Theological Events" (Armos, Athens 1998), - "My God the Foreigner" (Akritas 2007), - "Orthodox Theology and Social Justice" (Akritas, Athens 2002), - "With the Soul on Foot: From the Empty Tomb to the Roads of the World" (En Plo, Athens 2007), - "The Church Happens When It Opens: Mission as Hope and as Nightmare" (En Plo, Athens 2008). He lives in Athens with his wife Eleni Tamaresi and their son Alexandros-Arethas
