Panos Kyparissis

Panos Kyparissis was born in Oxya, Ioannina, in 1945. He studied mathematics and philology at the University of Athens and theater at the Drama School of the Art Theater-Karolos Koun. He has worked as an actor and director in theater, television, and cinema, and taught philology and mathematics in secondary education for about a decade. He also taught at the Veaki Drama School, the "New Greek Theater - G. Armenis" school, and the Drama School 'Dilos' of D. Hatoupi. He collaborated with state television, directing more than 15 documentaries, and with the European Cultural Center of Delphi, directing the film "The Byzantine Cavafy." His documentaries "Tzoumerka" and "Descending to the Shores," as well as his short film "Eothen," have participated in the Thessaloniki Festival. He writes poetry, essays, and translates, with his works being translated into English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Bulgarian, and Czech. In 2014, he was awarded the state poetry prize for the book "The Valuables" and the first prize at the international Ierapetra festival for the film "Ioannina of Contemplation and Legends." He is also involved in sculpture and painting and has showcased his works in both solo and group exhibitions.
