Georgios Drettas

Linguist, ethnologist, and researcher at the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (C.N.R.S.) since 1979. He has taught general linguistics and ethnology at the University of Paris VII and Paris V, as well as at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (E.H.E.S.S.), where he leads the seminar "Anthropologie linguistique des Balkans." Through his field research in Greece, Bulgaria, Albania, Southern Italy, and Israel, he has particularly studied the language and culture of rural groups and displaced populations in the Mediterranean.
