
Dimitris V. Prousalis
Dimitris Prousalis was born in the Netherlands in 1965. He studied pedagogy in Mytilene and is a graduate of the Department of Primary Education at the University of Athens (2004). He has also pursued studies in Library Science and Special Education. Since 1988, he has been working as a teacher in public education. In 2003, he was honored with the "Kostas Demertzis Award for the Greek Teacher" by the Circle of the Greek Children's Book for his contribution to promoting children's and adolescent literature and fostering a love of reading. Since 1999, he has been involved in the study, analysis, collection, and documentation of folk tales. He has attended seminars on storytelling and the art of narration, focusing on the pedagogical and therapeutic approaches to fairy tales and their use in classrooms and therapeutic settings. He has published works, articles in journals, and presented at symposia and international conferences on folk tales, and has coordinated workshops at the invitation of educational organizations and school advisors. He has collected over 50 folk tales with his students. As a storyteller, he has been sharing the tales he loves with children and adults since 2003, narrating in various venues to diverse audiences. His aim is to bring fairy tales back to the forefront of public interest and to create storytelling hubs everywhere, highlighting their importance for the human soul and culture. He is a member of the Hellenic Folklore Society, the Center for the Study and Dissemination of Myths and Folktales, the Panhellenic Association of Friends of Storytelling (POFA), and the Circle of the Greek Children's Book (the Greek section of IBBY).
