
Niall Ferguson
The British historian Niall Ferguson (full name: Niall Campbell Douglas Ferguson) was born in 1964 in Glasgow. He is a Professor of History at Harvard University and the London School of Economics (LSE), a fellow of Jesus College, University of Oxford, and a member of the Hoover Institution at Stanford University. He is considered one of the most innovative historians of our time, specializing in international and economic history. He is the author of several books, including "Paper and Iron: Hamburg Business and German Politics in the Era of Inflation, 1897-1927" (1995), "The Pity of War" (1998), "The House of Rothschild: The World's Banker, 1849-1999" (1999), "The Cash Nexus: Money and Power in the Modern World, 1700-2000" (2001), "Empire: How Britain Made the Modern World" (2003), "Colossus: The Rise and Fall of the American Empire" (2004), "The Ascent of Money: A Financial History of the World" (2008), "Civilization: The West and the Rest" (2011), and "Great Degeneration" (2012). He contributes to major international magazines and newspapers, including "Time Magazine" and "Sunday Telegraph." Since 2003, he has curated and presented five successful documentary series for "Channel Four." He divides his time between Oxford and Harvard with his wife and their three children.
