Giannis Tsirmpas

Giannis Tsirbas was born in Athens in 1976. He studied political science and history at Panteion University and pursued postgraduate studies in political behavior at the University of Essex in England. He completed his doctoral dissertation in political communication at the Department of Communication, Media, and Culture at Panteion University. Currently, he is a lecturer at the Department of Political Science and Public Administration at the University of Athens, specializing in quantitative and qualitative methods of social research. He has also worked as an analyst for a polling company and has taught political marketing at the Technological Educational Institute of Western Macedonia, as well as the course "Religions and Politics in Modernity" (co-taught with V. Georgiadou) in the Master's Program "Political Science and History" at Panteion University. He is the author of the monograph "28 Days: Elections, Political Advertising, and News Reporting" (Papazisis, 2007). He publishes articles and book reviews in the press and online. His short stories have won awards in national competitions, have been included in collective volumes, and have been published in literary magazines. In 2013, he published the novella "Victoria Does Not Exist" (Nefeli), which was translated into French ("Victoria n'existe pas," Quidam Editeur, 2015) and adapted into a film (directed by Yannis Sakaridis, titled "Amerika Square," starring Yannis Stankoglou and Vassilis Kukalani, awarded Best Greek Film by the International Federation of Film Critics/FIPRESCI at the 57th Thessaloniki Film Festival in November 2016).
