Ilan Pappe

The Israeli historian of German-Jewish descent, Ilan Pappé, was born in 1954 in Haifa. He taught political science at the University of Haifa until 2007, when he left to teach in the History Department at the University of Exeter in Britain. He is associated with the New Historians, a group that advocates radical positions and proposes a revised historical account of the history of Israel and Zionism, criticizing Israel's colonial policies. He is the president of the Emil Touma Institute for Palestinian Studies. In addition to "A History of Modern Palestine," he has authored the books: "Britain and the Arab-Israeli Conflict," "The Making of the Arab-Israeli Conflict, 1947-1951," "The Israel/Palestine Question," "The Modern Middle East," and "The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine."
