Dr. George Koulaouzidis was born in the USA in 1967 and grew up in Kalamaria. He currently resides with his family in Plagiari, within the Municipality of Thermi. He studied applied mathematics at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and pursued postgraduate studies in continuing education and training at the University of Surrey, as well as in adult education at the Hellenic Open University. He completed his doctoral dissertation at the University of Crete, focusing on the impact of adult educators' biographical paradigms on their self-perception regarding their professional role. He was part of the team that designed, implemented, and evaluated the national training program for continuing vocational training educators (EKEPIS), as well as the training programs for educators of the General Secretariat for Lifelong Learning, the KANEP of GSEE, and GSEVEE. He designed the 100-hour educator training program for the National Centre for Public Administration and Local Government (EKDDA) and has over 3,500 hours of teaching experience in educator training programs for various organizations. He is a member of the scientific council overseeing the operation of the Lifelong Learning Centers of local authorities, responsible for educational programs of local interest. He has supervised more than 80 dissertations. He has translated books on adult education and edited several volumes of postgraduate programs at the Hellenic Open University in Mathematics and Natural Sciences. He authored a significant portion of the educational material for training the teaching staff at the Hellenic Open University. His total scientific work includes more than 80 published papers in scientific journals, collective volumes, and conference proceedings. He works at the Municipality of Thermi (as General Secretary) and has been teaching the theory and practice of adult education at the Hellenic Open University since 2001, as well as at the Democritus University of Thrace and the University of Macedonia. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Scientific Association for Adult Education (having served as editor of the Adult Education journal for 10 years) and represents it at the European Association for the Education of Adults. In 2017, he co-edited the book "Adult Education and Lifelong Learning in Southeastern Europe" with Dr. Katarina Popovic, published by SENSE Publishing.
