Professor Christos V. Massalas was born in Chouliarades, Ioannina. Secondary Education: Zosimaia School of Ioannina. University Studies: Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Civil Engineering) and University of Ioannina (Mathematics). Postgraduate Studies: Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn. Scholarships: Fulbright, Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn, UNESCO. Doctor and Lecturer in Engineering. Professor at the University of Ioannina until 2006. 1989-1990: Visiting Professor at Trinity College Dublin. Since September 2006: Professor Emeritus at the University of Ioannina. Administrative Positions: 1994-1997 Vice-Rector, 1997-2003 Rector of the University of Ioannina, from 2003 onwards President of the Administrative Committee of the University of Western Macedonia, from 2005 onwards President of the Council of Higher University Education, 2009 lifetime member of the Board of the Rizarios Foundation. Institute Honorary Fellow of the Foundation for Research and Technology - Hellas (FORTH). Scientific Work: More than 120 published papers in international journals and 70 presentations at international conferences, invited speaker at international research centers and conferences, as well as author of educational books. As part of his academic interests, he contributes articles to daily and periodical press on educational and social issues. He has been honored by the scientific and educational community as well as by social organizations.
