Ioanna Skarlatou
Ioanna Skarlatou was born in Athens, with roots in the beautiful island of Amorgos. She is an educator, journalist, and author of children's and young adult books. She is a regular member of the Greek Circle of Children's Books. Her books are published by Paramythia, Psychogios, Akritas, Parrisia, and Smyrniotakis. Although her stories have been awarded three times by the Panhellenic Union of Writers, the Women's Literary Society, and in 2014 she received the First Prize in the Italian State Literary Competition Associazione Amici dell Umbria for her children's book "Christmas in My Mother's Belly," she believes that the greatest award one can achieve is to travel with children to higher "Heavens" using small colorful words. She is married to Alexandros Metaxas and they have two children. Her dream is that everyone who reads the stories she writes with great love will encounter the childlike soul that nests in their hearts.
