Notis Mayroudis

For five decades, Notis Mavroudis has maintained a dynamic presence in all guitar-related events in our country, alongside his teaching career. He studied guitar at the National Conservatory under Dimitris Fampas and in 1969 in Spain with Jose Tomas. As a soloist, guitar teacher, and composer of art songs, he has performed numerous concerts and recitals both in Greece and abroad. In 1965, he was awarded the First Prize at the Thessaloniki Song Festival, in 1969 the First Prize at the international guitar competition in Milan, and in 1990 he was awarded at the international children's song competition in Lisbon. That same year, the Brazilian Embassy in Greece awarded him the "Heitor Villa-Lobos" prize for his contribution to promoting the work of the Brazilian composer in Greece. His presence in the music scene has been uninterrupted to this day, with compositions for theater and cinema, articles in newspapers and magazines, and collaborations with radio stations. He began his teaching career in 1969 at the Music Academy of the Municipality of Milan and has continued consistently since 1975 in Greece (mainly in Athens). He has occasionally held responsible positions in state institutions and organizations and has served as artistic director at various festivals. From 1983 to 1987, he was the publisher and director of the only guitar magazine at the time, TaR, and organized significant concerts with world-renowned guitarists. His rich discography includes works for classical guitar, compositions, and songs performed by notable singers. Since 2000, together with his collaborator Panagiotis Margaris, he started the discographic series Cafe de l' art, consisting of five albums in total. The series includes arrangements and transcriptions for two guitars of works and songs from various musical genres. In 2005 and 2006, the "Arion" award was given to the tribute of this series with music for cinema and arrangements of songs by Vassilis Tsitsanis and Markos Vamvakaris. In 2002, he became the founder and artistic director of the record label "Corifeo" of the company "Eros music," known for its exceptional alternative releases in diverse musical paths. A notable discographic interest is the CD titled "Master Class," in which Notis Mavroudis had artistic supervision and coordination. It is a collective album featuring 29 Greek guitarists, documenting half a century of guitar discography in Greece. Since 2006, he has been responsible for the music programs that operate and are heard in the Attica Metro stations. Since October 2006, he has been directing the re-launch of the magazine TaR in an online format, available at http://www.tar.gr, as well as the online TaR radio, which can be accessed at http://www.tar-radio.com
