Konstantinos Vassis

Born in Athens in 1931, he graduated from Athens College and studied law at the University of Athens. He pursued a diplomatic career in Congo (Lumbumbashi), Hungary (Budapest), Italy (Venice), Germany (Frankfurt), and served as Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Mexico, and Japan. At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he held positions as Director of Cultural Affairs, General Inspector, and Deputy Director General. Simultaneously, he engaged in literature—initially under the pseudonym V. Konstantinos—publishing six poetry collections ("Refractions" 1972, "Employee Lives" 1976, "Problematic Assembly" 1981, "The Law of Indistinguishability" 1990, "Eros in Danger" 1994, "A Rare Species of Termites" 2011), three short story collections ("At a 90° Angle" 1976, "The Midnight Enigma" 1989, "A Misleading Concept" 2007), and a volume of essays ("Facing the 21st Century" 2008). Additionally, he published literary, linguistic, historical, and diplomatic texts in magazines (primarily "Responsibility," "New Course," "Parodos"), newspapers, and conference proceedings. He also engaged with Spanish literature, publishing studies on Spanish content in Greece and Spain. He served as President of the Hellenic Society of Hispanists (1997-2004), is the President of the Foundation for Modern Greek Studies, and a Board Member of the National Society of Greek Writers. He speaks and writes in English, French, German, Spanish, and Hungarian, and has a satisfactory command of Arabic and Italian.
