Kostas Dikaios

Kostas Dikaios was born in Athens in 1965. He studied Political Science at Panteion University (1987) and in Edinburgh (PhD 1992). His doctoral thesis connects concepts of neo-Marxist state theory with the functions of the British National Health System (NHS). He worked as an expert and administrative executive on European Union projects (1995-2000). He served as a scientific associate (PD 407/80) in the Department of Social Administration at Democritus University of Thrace, teaching health policy and the organization and management of health services, and in the Department of Political Science at the University of Crete (1998-2004). Since December 2009, he has been an assistant professor in the Department of Social Administration at Democritus University of Thrace, specializing in "Policy and History of Health Care Services." He is the co-author of a book on Health Policy for the Hellenic Open University. His recent publications focus on social policy and health policy issues, particularly concerning party competition around the National Health System (NHS) and the ideological dimension in hospital administration.
