Marius von Mayenburg

Marius von Mayenburg was born in Munich in 1972. He studied medieval philology in Munich and Berlin (1991-1994). He then pursued creative writing at the Berlin University of the Arts (1994-1998). In 1998, he collaborated with the Baracke des Deutschen Theaters in Berlin, and since 1999 (the beginning of Thomas Ostermeier's tenure), he has been a resident playwright and dramaturg at the Schaubühne in Berlin. He has been honored with the "Kleist Prize for Young Dramatists" (1997), the Frankfurt Authors' Foundation Award (1998), and the Emerging Playwright of the Year award (1999) from Theater Heute magazine.
