Kostas Koutsourelis

Kostas Koutsourelis was born in 1967 in Athens. He studied law and translation in Greece and Germany. He has published poetry, stage works, essays, and studies. His translations include works by Shakespeare, Novalis, Rilke, Kafka, Gottfried Benn, Octavio Paz, among others. His critical writings focus on both domestic and foreign literature and thought. He wrote the libretto for the chamber opera "Michelangelo in Rome," which was performed in 2013 at the Benaki Museum with music composed by Philippos Tsalahouris. In 2015, he presented the dramatic monologue "Letter to Odysseas Elytis" at the Athens Concert Hall. In 2010, he represented Greek poetry in Westphalia, Germany, at the "Ruhr - European Capital of Culture" events. He has taught creative writing at the Sinopoulos Foundation and literary translation at the EKEMEL, the University of Athens, and the Goethe Institute. Awards: Lambros Porphyra Award from the Academy of Athens (2013), Aris Alexandrou Award (2012), Literary Translation Award from the German Language (2012). He is the editor of the review of discourse and ideas "Neo Planodion."
