Eleytherios CHaratsidis

Eleftherios Charatsidis was born in the Greek village of Ivanovka, Tetritskaro region, in the Georgian SSR. He studied Russian Philology in Armenia and taught Russian language and literature in secondary education. He attended courses in Ethnography, Philosophy, History, and English, successfully passing the required examinations in these subjects as a doctoral candidate. After publicly defending his doctoral dissertation on "The Economic Life and Material Culture of the Greeks in Armenia during the Second Half of the 19th - Early 20th Century," he earned his Ph.D. in History. He taught at the Pedagogical Institute of the city of Leninakan in Armenia. In 1992, he permanently relocated to Greece with his family. His research focuses on ethnographic topics related to the Greek Diaspora, the peoples of the former USSR, and issues concerning Russian and Armenian language and culture. He has participated in numerous scientific conferences, and many of his scholarly works have been published in Russian, Armenian, French, and Greek. Since 2000, he has been teaching at the Department of Language, Literature, and Culture of the Black Sea Countries at the Democritus University of Thrace.
