Martha Vasileiadi

Martha Vasileiadi is a graduate of the Department of Philology at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, specializing in Medieval and Modern Greek Philology (1992). She holds a postgraduate degree in Comparative Literature from the Sorbonne University (DEA in Comparative Literature: "The Cult of Beauty in Baudelaire and Constantine Cavafy", 1993) and a Ph.D. in Modern Greek Literature from the University of Geneva (Doctorat ès Lettres: "The Splendors of Decadence in the Work of Constantine Cavafy", 2004). Since 1998, she has been teaching Greek language and literature in the Department of Modern Greek Studies at the University of Geneva, initially as an assistant and since 2004 as a lecturer. Her research interests primarily cover the 19th and 20th centuries in French and Greek poetry, the work of C. Cavafy and its relationship with foreign literatures, and the reception of "European" myths in Greece, particularly in the late 19th century.
