Ifigeneia Triantou

Iphigenia Triantou is an Associate Professor in the Department of Early Childhood Education at the University of Ioannina, where she teaches Modern Greek Literature and Literary Theory, with a particular focus on Narratology. She was born in Corfu, grew up in Preveza, and holds a degree from the Department of Media and Modern Greek Studies of the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Ioannina. She pursued her postgraduate studies at the Sorbonne in two phases, under the guidance of K. Th. Dimaras (Modern Greek Enlightenment) and Guy Saunier (Folk Song and Modern Greek Surrealism). Her dissertation explores the narrative techniques in the works of Dimitris Hatzis, a subject she frequently addresses in her research. She has participated in numerous conferences in Greece and abroad, and her work draws from both the older Greek tradition (Homer, Fairy Tales, Cretan literature, D. Solomos, D. Vikelas, A. Papadiamantis, K. Chatzopoulos, among others) and modern and contemporary Greek literature (K. Kavafis, N. Kazantzakis, I. Venezis, M. Karagatsis, G. Theotokas, G. Seferis, O. Elytis, T. Livaditis, A. Fragias, N. Houliaras, A. Samarakis, Io. Karystiani, etc.). Her studies offer an original synthesis of traditional philological approaches with contemporary methods of literary theory and semiotic analysis. She is a member of the Society of Writers and Authors of Epirus, as well as the Hellenic and International Semiotic Society.
