CHristoforos CHaralampakis

Graduate of the School of Philosophy at the University of Athens, with postgraduate studies at the Universities of Cologne and Heidelberg. In 1976, he was awarded a doctorate from the School of Philosophy at the University of Cologne with his dissertation: "Fthano. Contribution to Greek Lexicography." He served as a researcher at the Academy of Athens and as a Professor of Linguistics at the University of Crete. He currently holds the position of Professor of Linguistics in the Department of Philology at the University of Athens. He has an extensive research portfolio focusing on ancient and modern Greek dialectology, electronic lexicography, the relationship between language and literature, and the language of education, with an emphasis on the utilization of computers and high technology. He has conducted research at the University of North Dakota in the USA, and the Universities of Reading and Cambridge in England. He has published numerous works, totaling 280, including notable studies and books on Language, the relationship between Language and Education, the teaching of Modern Greek, Literature, and Style. He has been actively involved both in Greece and internationally, holding high positions in educational organizations in Greece and representing the country in European programs. He has taught as a visiting professor at universities in Germany, Athens, Cyprus, and Thrace. He has also delivered a series of lectures on his specialty at universities in Europe, America, and Australia. He has participated in over 150 Greek and international conferences and is a member of many Greek and foreign scientific societies.
