
James Clavell
James Clavell was born in 1924 in England and passed away in 1994 in Stockholm. At the age of 16, he enlisted in the army and fought in World War II, during which he was captured by the Japanese and taken to the Changi Prisoner of War camp in Singapore. After the war, Clavell dedicated himself to writing and filmmaking. The books of his renowned Asian Saga, which includes "Shogun," achieved great commercial success and acclaim and were adapted into films and television series. Clavell also wrote the screenplay for the movies "The Fly" and "The Great Escape," and he was the screenwriter and director of the film "To Sir, with Love," for which he was honored with the Writers Guild Best Screenplay Award.
