
Markus Zusak
Markus Zusak was born in 1975 in Sydney, Australia, to an Austrian father and a German mother. He studied English Literature and History. He worked as a tutor while also pursuing writing. One of his novels, "I Am The Messenger," was honored with the Children's Book Council of Australia's Book of the Year Award in 2003 and the Michael L. Printz Honor Award in 2006. "The Book Thief" captivated critics and readers alike, reaching the top positions on bestseller lists and receiving high praise from the media. It was awarded the Michael L. Printz Honor Award in 2007 and was nominated for numerous literary awards, including the Quill Book Award, the Australian Book Industry Award, and the Australian Booksellers Book of the Year Award. The rights to the book have been sold in 17 countries, and it may also be adapted into a film. Zusak lives in Sydney with his wife and daughter.
