Gregory Maguire

Gregory Maguire was born in 1954 in the USA to parents of Irish and Greek descent. He studied literature, pursued postgraduate studies in children's literature, and completed his doctorate in English and American literature. He worked as a professor. In 1987, he co-founded the non-profit organization Children's Literature New England. He wrote his first book at the age of twenty-four and has since authored over thirty books for adults and children, most of which reflect his love for fairy tales and other folk myths. He is best known for his novel "Wicked," which was adapted into a musical that played on Broadway and is one of the most successful musicals of all time. He has received numerous awards. He lives with his family between Boston and Provence.
