Panagiotis Ioannidis

Panagiotis Ioannidis was born in 1967 in Athens, where he currently resides. He has published three poetry books with Kastaniotis Editions: "The Life Jacket" (2008, 2nd ed. 2009), "Uncovered" (2013), and "Poland" (2016). His poems, essays, critical notes, and translations (of poems by S. Heaney, T. Gunn, R. Creeley, A. Motion, M. Symmons Roberts, D. Harsent, among others) have been published in magazines since 1994. He was featured in the "16 New Greek Poets" event by the Theatrical Company "Praxi" (1997) and received the Second Poetry Prize at the "First Meeting of Young Creators (Vakalo School)" (1998). He is responsible for poetry at the book review "The Books' Journal," a key contributor to the magazine exploring the poetic phenomenon "[FRMK]," and the organizer and curator of the monthly poetry readings series "With Words (It Happens)." At the 28th Poetry Symposium (Rio, 2008), he presented, together with Theodosis Tassios, the paper "Poetry and Image," and at the 31st Poetry Symposium (Rio, 2011), the announcement "When is Poetry (Not) in Crisis?" Since 2006, he has collaborated with visual artists to present poetry in dialogue with visual artworks (e.g., with Eleni Theofylaktou, 2007, and Efi Panagoula, 2010), within the framework of visual installations ("blind date #12," Industrial Space, Keiriadon and Sfittion, Athens, 2006, with Maria Konti - "Image-poetry," M. Kakogiannis Foundation, Athens, 2011), and in live actions (2nd Athens Biennale / 'Heaven', "Poetic Residence Arcadia," 2009). His blog is: http://xylokopoi.blogspot.gr.
