Giannis Kaykias

Giannis Kafkias was born in Aetos, Trikala, in 1945. Until 1962, he lived in Trikala, where he published his first poems and prose, and from 1962 to 1968, he resided in Athens, working as an editor for various newspapers and studying film. In 1968, he moved to Paris, which has been his primary residence since then. There, he pursued studies in philosophy and film, worked as a photographer for Greek publishers and Western European magazines and newspapers, and served as a correspondent for Greek-speaking resistance radio stations and newspapers. Since the political changeover in 1974, he has been a correspondent and regular contributor to various Greek newspapers, magazines, and radio stations, as well as French magazines. He also served as the editor-in-chief of the Greek-language newspaper in Paris, "O Schoinovatis" (The Tightrope Walker) from 1995 to 2000. In parallel, Giannis Kafkias works as a translator from French to Greek and vice versa, having translated many dozens of books covering almost all fields (literature, philosophy, history, social anthropology, psychoanalysis-psychology, political science, astrophysics, biogenetics, economics, demography, communication studies, urban ethnology, biography, screenplay, etc.).
