Giorgos Theofanous was born in Larnaca on January 9, 1968. From a young age, he showed his love for music, composing his own songs from the age of five, even before attending elementary school. Young Giorgos was considered a child prodigy in his city and beyond, as at the age of nine, he sang and played one of his own songs on the guitar at the Nicosia Municipal Theater in the presence of the then President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Spyros Kyprianou. He later participated in numerous music competitions in his city and across Cyprus as a guitarist and composer, winning awards and distinctions. He studied guitar, piano, and harmony at the National Conservatory and, after completing his military service, he went to Boston to study at Berklee College of Music, focusing on Film Scoring, Orchestration, and Conducting. He participated three times as a composer and four times as a conductor in the Eurovision Song Contest. Since 1989, he has composed more than 550 songs, performed by many of the most significant singers of our time. He has written music for numerous theatrical productions, including "Alice in Wonderland" (Cyprus Theatre Organization 1987), "A Midsummer Night's Dream" (Cyprus Theatre Organization 1995), "Twelfth Night" (Cyprus Theatre Organization 1995), "Epitrepontes" (Municipal and Regional Theatre of Kalamata 1996), and "A Bee in August" (Athens Theatre 2004). In 1990, he was awarded the orchestration prize at the Thessaloniki Song Festival. At the official IFPI music awards, he has won a total of nine ARION awards to date. In 2006, he was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Cyprus Music Awards. On September 11, 2008, he presented the musical performance "I Sing My Island" at the walls of Nicosia, which included 40 musical adaptations of poems about Cyprus from the 8th century BC to the present. The same performance was also presented at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus on October 7 and 8 of the same year.
