David Ricks

David Ricks is a senior lecturer in the Department of Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies at King's College London. His major works include the books "The Shade of Homer: A Study in Modern Greek Poetry" (Cambridge 1989, Greek edition "Η σκιά του Ομήρου", translated by Aristea Parisi, Kardamitsa, 1993), "Byzantine Heroic Poetry" (Bristol 1990), and the anthology "Modern Greek Writing: An Anthology in English Translation" (Peter Owen, 2003). He has edited essay collections such as "Digenes Akrites: New Approaches to Byzantine Heroic Poetry" (with Roderick Beaton, Aldershot 1993) and "Byzantium and the Modern Greek Identity" (with Paul Magdalino, Aldershot 1998). He is a founding member, since 1994, of the English-language journal "Dialogos: Hellenic Studies Review".
