
Giannis Soldatos
The author, director, and publisher Giannis Soldatos was born in Lefkada in 1952. He is the founder and director of the publishing house "Aigokeros," which has published more than 200 film-related books and over 400 literary works. As an author, he has written the books: "In the Constellation of Aries," "Frightening Stories," "War Stories," "The Enigma," "Eva, the Beloved of Vampires," "The Delusion," "Underwater Love," "Eleni: Liosion 5A," "Dionysus, the King of the Mountains," "Sacred Prostitute," "The Train in Love," "Alexis Damianos," "Jean-Luc Godard," "History of Greek Cinema," "A Brief History of Greek Cinema," "Greek Cinema: A Century," "History of Nudity in Cinema," "A Man for All Seasons: Thanasis Veggos," "Odysseys of Bodies in the Works of Nikos Koundouros," among others. He has served as a professor of Greek cinema history at film schools. He has directed 40 episodes of the series "The Adventure of a Poem" (ET2), the films: "The Apology of Theophilos Tsafos" (ET2), "Steps" (ET2), "The Enigma" (feature film, produced by Aigokeros, ERT, New Star), "Underwater Love" (feature film, produced by Aigokeros), the short film "A Saturday Night" (Aigokeros, EKK), five documentaries under the general title "Castrologist: A Report on Fotis Kontoglou" (ET1), ten episodes of the series "Backdrop" (ET1), and four dramatized episodes of the series "Pages with a View" (ET1). His theatrical works have been staged, including: "When Alexandros Papadiamantis Met Georgios Vizyinos" (New Greek Theatre of Giorgos Armenis, directed by Giorgos Armenis), "When Skarimbas Declared War on Chalkida" (Open Theatre, directed by Giorgos Michaelidis), "Poe" (Theatre of the Mediterranean, directed by Alberto Eskenazi), "Sacred Prostitute," among others.
