Jaume Cabré

Jaume Cabré was born in 1947 in Barcelona. He studied Catalan Philology and taught at the University of Lleida. He is also a member of the Institute of Catalan Studies. For years, he has professionally combined teaching and writing. He has authored novels, short stories, plays, essays, and scripts for television and film. Since his first collection of short stories in 1974 and his first novel in 1978, Cabré has published numerous novels, film and television scripts, novellas, children's books, plays, and essays. Highly esteemed in his country, Cabré has been repeatedly honored in Spain and abroad with significant literary awards, such as the National Literature Prize, the Critics' Prize, and the Prix Mediterranee. His books have been translated into dozens of languages. For "The Voices of the Pamano River," he was awarded the Catalan Critics' Prize in 2005. His work "Confiteor" has received numerous accolades, including the Serra d’Or Critics' Prize 2012, the M. Angels Anglada Prize 2012, the La Tormenta en un Vaso Prize 2012, the Crexells Prize 2012, and the Courrier International Prize for Best Foreign Novel of 2013.
