William Wymark Jakobs

G. G. Jacobs (William Wymark Jacobs) was born in London in 1863 and studied at Birkbeck College. In 1879, he began working as a civil servant and published his first short story in 1885. His writing output decreased during the First World War, at which point he primarily began adapting his stories for the theater, continuing this endeavor until his death. His first play, titled "The Ghost of Jerry Bundler," was staged in 1899. He passed away in London in 1943.
