
Maria Tzitzi
Maria Tzitzi is a chemist, oenologist, and wine taster. She graduated from the Chemistry Department of the University of Athens, specializing in Environment and Oenology, and works as a freelance consultant. She has participated in over fifty international wine competitions, either as a judge, a member of the organizing committee, or as a representative of the International Organisation of Vine and Wine. In 2014, she was honored with the title of Knight of Agriculture ("Chevalier dans l'Ordre du Mérite Agricole") by the French State. She is a member of FIJEV (the International Federation of Wine and Spirits Journalists and Writers). Her great loves are literature, travel, and wine; she always tries to combine the latter two in her books. She has authored the oenological books "Elements of Oenology: The Art of the Sommelier" (Les Livres du Tourisme, 2008), "The World's Strange Wines" (2nd edition: Nefeli, 2017), and "The Wine Treasure of Santorini" (fairead, 2017). Additionally, her novels "Dark Cellar" (Tsoukatos, 2010) and "Like Wine" (Anubis, 2013) have been published and awarded by the Panhellenic Union of Writers, the Gourmand Awards, and the International Organisation of Vine and Wine.
