Ioannis S. Papafloratos
Ioannis Papafloratos was born in 1973. He was admitted among the top students to the Law School of Komotini in 1992. During his studies, he worked as a researcher at the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP), and his work titled "The Decisions of International Organizations on the Yugoslav Crisis (UN, NATO, European Union, Western European Union), 1991 - 1996" (supervised by Professor Ioannis Valinakis) was published as a Background Paper in four volumes for our diplomatic services. In 1997, he graduated and the same year went to the Netherlands for postgraduate studies. In 1998, he obtained a master's degree in International and European Relations from the Amsterdam School of International Relations. In 1999, he began his interdisciplinary doctoral dissertation under the supervision of Professor and academic Konstantinos Svolopoulos. In 2004, he was awarded a Ph.D. from the University of Athens with "excellent" distinction. Subsequently, he worked as a researcher at the Academy of Athens for two years. In January 2009, he became a regular member following a proposal by the Board of Directors of the "Society of Friends of the People," one of Greece's oldest non-profit scientific associations. In September 2009, he was a lecturer at the NATO Multinational Peace Support Operations Training Center. Today, he teaches at the National Defense School, the National Security School, the Air Force Staff Officers School, and the People's University, and has also taught at the Hellenic Air Force Academy, the Police Academy's Training and Further Education School, and the Legal Advisors School. In December 2010, he was awarded by the Academy of Athens for his work titled "The Greco-Italian Crisis of 1923 - The Tellini/Corfu Incident." He is a member of the "Society for the Study of Greek History," the "Society for the Study of Ioannis Kapodistrias' Work," and the "Academy of Strategic Analyses." He has participated as a speaker in 21 international and Greek scientific conferences and seminars and as an author in six collective works. Eleven of his books have already been published, along with more than 230 of his articles in newspapers and magazines.
