
Jose Peixoto
José Luís Peixoto was born in 1974 in Portugal. He graduated from the Department of Languages and Modern Literatures (English and German) at the New University of Lisbon. He collaborates with various publications in Portugal and abroad. In 2001, he received the prestigious José Saramago Literary Prize for his novel "Nenhum Olhar" ("Blank Gaze"). In 2007, he was awarded the Cálamo Otra Mirada prize, the Spanish award for the best foreign novel, for his work "Cemetery of Pianos." For his novel "Book," he received the Italian award for the best foreign novel, Libro d’Europa, in 2012. In 2016, for his work "Galveias," he won the Oceanos Prize in Brazil for the best literary work in the Portuguese language for 2015. His novels have been translated into more than 30 languages. He has also been recognized for his poetry and is involved in travel literature.
