Will Eisner
Will Eisner's (1917-2005) career is intertwined with the entire history of comic books, from their early days in the 1930s, when they were trying to find their way, through the 1940s, when he revolutionized narrative comic series with the famous "The Spirit," to the mature phase of his work that began in the 1970s. During this time, Will Eisner paved the way for the creation of the modern graphic novel with "A Contract with God." Today, the top annual comic book awards, equivalent to the film industry's Oscars, are named "Eisners" in his honor.
