Io Tsokona

Io Tsokona was born in 1964 in Istanbul. She graduated from Zappeion High School of Constantinople and the Department of Business Administration at the University of Piraeus. She translates literary books and essays to and from Turkish, as well as subtitles for films, advertisements, and documentaries. She published the book "The Multilingual Pera" in Turkish (Heyamola Publications) and in Greek "The Pera of the Greeks: In the Istanbul of Yesterday and Today" (Metaichmio Publications) and the historical book "In the Time of Kösem Sultan: A Greek Sultana in the Ottoman Empire of the 17th Century" (Aiora, 2017). She is a member of the Society for the Study of Greek East and a regular contributor to the literary and art magazine "Kinstirna," where her work titled "Traveling with the Presocratics" was published in parts.
