Harold Brodkey

Harold Brodkey (1930-1996) was born in Staunton, Illinois, and grew up in University City, Missouri, near St. Louis. After graduating from Harvard University, Brodkey began his writing career by crafting short stories for The New Yorker and other magazines. His stories won two first-place O. Henry Awards.
