Jonathan Fenby

Jonathan Fenby was the editor of the Observer in London and the South China Morning Post in Hong Kong, which he led until the transfer of control of the colony from Britain to China in 1997. He has contributed to The Economist, Guardian, Independent, and Reuters. He is a distinguished author and speaker on both historical and contemporary China. He has written a biography of Chiang Kai-shek, a history of China from 1850 to 1949, and an account of Hong Kong after its return to China in 1997, as well as numerous articles in the press about China. He also broadcasts in the United Kingdom, the United States, Europe, and the Far East.
