Spyros I. Asdrachas, one of the greatest historians of our country, was born in Argostoli, Kefalonia, in 1933. EDUCATION 1960: Degree in History from the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Athens 1965-1967: IKY scholarship for postgraduate studies in Paris 1972: Doctorat de 3e Cycle (EPHE, VI Section - Paris 7) in economic and social history 1976: Eleve diplome of EPHE, IVe Section ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES 1. Teaching 1974-1984: Charge de Conferences at EPHE, IVe Section 1976-1977: Charge de Cours at University Paris-IV 1982-1998: Professeur associe at University Paris I, Pantheon-Sorbonne. Supervised DEA and doctoral theses within the Doctoral Studies of University Paris I. 1986-1988: Charge de Conferences at EHESS 1993-2005: Weekly seminars at KNE/EIE on "Problems of Economic History, 15th-19th centuries" 2. Research Activities 1961-1965: Research Assistant at KNE/EIE 1967-1974: Assistant de recherches at EPHE, VIe Section 1977-1990: Director of Research for the History Program of the National Bank of Greece 1987-1991: Member of the Board of the Foundation for Research and Education of the Commercial Bank 1985-1989, 1994-2000: Member of the History Committee of the Historical Archive of Greek Youth 1984-1986: Head of research program of GGRT: Tax mechanisms and economy within Greek communities, 17th-19th centuries 1988-1990: Head of research program of GGRT: Greek urban complexes and hinterland, 15th-19th centuries: surplus absorption and interconnection systems 1988-2003: Director of Research at KNE/EIE 3. Other Academic Activities 1983-2005: Co-director of the journal "Ta Historika" 1985-1990: Vice President of the Administrative Committee of the Ionian University 2004-2017: President of the "Archives of Contemporary Social History" (ASKI) He passed away on December 11, 2017, at the age of 84.
