
Dimitris Filippidis
Dimitris Philippides (b. 1938) is an architect (NTUA, 1962), who became a professor of urban planning after 1975 and is now an emeritus professor at the NTUA School of Architecture. He worked in various offices conducting architectural and urban planning studies (1964-1995) and distinguished himself in competitions. He has published articles and book reviews on Greek traditional and contemporary architecture, urban planning, and architectural education. He has authored fifteen books: "Modern Greek Architecture" (1984), "On the Greek City" (1990), "Twenty Positions on Urban Planning" (1990), "Concrete in 20th Century Greek Architecture" (1992), "Mediterranean Houses: Greece" (1994), "Lysandros Kaftantzoglou" (1995), "Five Essays on Konstantinidis" (1997), "Decorative Arts" (1998), "Modern Architecture in Greece" (2001), "Suburbs and Countryside of 1930s Athens" (2006), "Architectural Transformations" (2006), "Neoclassical Cities in Greece" (2007), "Building Block 19" (2009), "Ephemeral and Eternal Athens" (2009), "Dimitris Pikionis" (2009). He has curated tributes and monographs on architects, as well as the first six volumes of the series "Greek Traditional Architecture" (1980-1988).
