Matoula Skaltsa
Matoula Skaltsa (Megalo Pefko, Attica, 1950) is an art historian and museologist, and a professor at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She has authored books on art and museums and has published articles on museology, art, art economics, and education in collective scientific editions, conference proceedings, scientific journals, art encyclopedias, and exhibition catalogs both in Greece and internationally. She has organized art exhibitions (thematic, group, solo, or retrospective, featuring Greek and foreign artists) in collaboration with public and private cultural organizations. Additionally, she has overseen the conception and writing of educational art programs for children. She has collaborated with the newspapers "Ta Nea" and "To Vima tis Kyriakis" on cultural and museology topics. In 1995, she was responsible for Visual Arts Events and coordinated the Cultural Events Program for the Organization of the European Capital of Culture "Thessaloniki 1997." In 1997, she developed the Master's Program "Cultural Unit Management" for the Hellenic Open University and has since been involved in its scientific organization and monitoring as an academic supervisor. As a museological consultant, she participates in museum studies and management. She is a member of AICA, ICOM, the Education and Museology committees of the Museum Association (UK), the American Association of Museums, Icomos, the Advisory Council for Museum Policy of the Ministry of Culture, and the Board of the Macedonian Museum of Contemporary Art.
