
Daniel Mendelsohn
Daniel Mendelsohn was born in 1960 on Long Island. He is an author and classical philologist, as well as one of the most prominent critics of our time. He studied ancient Greek and Latin philology at the University of Virginia and Princeton University, where he earned his doctorate. He taught at Princeton University and, since 2006, has been a professor at Bard College. The reviews for "The Lost" were rave, and the book achieved great commercial success. It has been translated into twelve languages. Daniel Mendelsohn has translated the poems of C. P. Cavafy into English, which were published in 2009 in two volumes, with his own introduction and commentary. He lives in the Hudson Valley, New York.
