Giorgos Sakallieros

George Sakallieros is an Assistant Professor of Historical Musicology in the Department of Music Studies at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, specializing in the study of modern Greek music (19th-20th century). He holds a Ph.D. from the Department of Music Studies at the University of Athens (2005), graduated with honors from the corresponding department at Aristotle University (1996), and holds diplomas in composition, advanced music theory (under A. Baltas), and guitar from the Thessaloniki Music College Conservatory. He has presented scientific papers at international musicology and Greek philology conferences in Greece and abroad and has an extensive number of publications in both Greek and foreign languages. He has also contributed as an author of entries on Greek music for Grove Music Online. He is the author of the book "Giannis Konstantinidis (1903-1984): Life, Work, and Compositional Style" (Thessaloniki: University Studio Press, 2010). His compositional work includes approximately 35 titles, among them works for orchestra, chamber music, solo instruments, and choir. He received the First Prize at the 1st Panhellenic Composition Competition "Dimitris Dragatakis" by the Union of Greek Composers in 2003. He is a regular member of the International Musicological Society (IMS), the Society for Interdisciplinary Musicology (SIM), the Union of Greek Composers, and a founding member of the Hellenic Musicological Society.
