Stefanos Stefanidis

Stefanos Stefanides is a poet, essayist, memoirist, translator, and Emeritus Professor of English Literature and Comparative Literary Studies at the Department of English Studies, University of Cyprus. His literary and research activities focus on poetry, translation, comparative postcolonial literature, and memory studies. He works across English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Greek. His poems have been published in nine languages. He won first prize in the poetry competition of the Society for Humanistic Anthropology (American Anthropological Association, 1988). He has served as a judge for the Commonwealth Writers' Prize (Eurasia Region, 2000, 2010). He was named a Fellow of the English Association in 2003 and was awarded the title of Knight of the Italian Republic in 2007.
