
Kate Summerscale
Kate Summerscale was born in 1965 and grew up in Japan, England, and Chile. She studied at the Universities of Oxford and Stanford (MA in Journalism). Her first novel, "The Queen of Whale Cay," published in 1997, won the Somerset Maugham Award. "The Suspicions of Mr. Whicher" was first released in England in 2008, won the Samuel Johnson Prize for Non-Fiction, was named British Book of the Year, and has been translated into more than 12 languages. Her latest novel is titled "Mrs. Robinson's Disgrace," published in 2012. She has served as a judge for various literary awards, including the Booker Prize, and has been a member of the Royal Society of Literature since 2010. She lives in London.
