Ben Shneiderman

Ben Shneiderman is a professor in the Department of Computer Science, founder and director (1983-2000) of the Human-Computer Interaction Laboratory (http://www.cs.umd.edu/hcil), and a member of the Institute for Advanced Computer Studies and the Institute for Systems Research, all of which are part of the University of Maryland at College Park. He is also a member of the ACM and the AAAS and has received the ACM and HCI "Lifetime Achievement" Award. His books, research papers, and frequent lectures have made him one of the pioneers in this emerging scientific field on an international level. In his free time, he enjoys cycling, hiking, skiing, and traveling.
