Vasilis PSarianos

Vasilis Psarianos was born in 1938 in Vrisa, Lesvos. He studied Archaeology and History at the School of Philosophy of the University of Athens and served as a philology teacher in secondary education between 1964 and 1989. From 1974 to 1977, he was a leading figure in organizing the democratic movement of educators for the democratization and modernization of Education. From 1975 to 1977, he served as the general secretary of the Federation of Secondary Education Officers, and from 1982 to 1986, he worked at the Ministry of Education as a special advisor to the minister on Secondary Education issues. The impasses he realized in the implementation of the 1985 institutional framework led to his early "retirement" from active educational service in 1989. However, he has since continued to defend his right to dream of better education and democracy through his writings. He collaborated with publishing houses as an editor and translator, and for six years starting in 2006, he wrote regularly for "Empros." Since 1996, he has been the editor-in-chief of the magazine "Antilalos tis Vrisas." He has published articles, studies, poems, and short stories in newspapers and magazines. His published books also include "Kampanoustra: Tales for Young and Old," "The Oiled Notebooks: Short Stories," "Archaeological - Historical of Vrisa Lesvos" (collective work), and "For the Development of Vrisa Lesvos: Articles."
